It’s become very apparent in my life how many different needs I have.
I break them up into, physical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual needs.
This helps me get clear which ones I need daily and which ones I can do often.
I just passed the 2nd year anniversary of my brother’s death.
At this time, I’m feeling a lot of peace, acceptance and trust in the mysteries of life.
What I’ve learned the most in the last two years, is knowing MY OWN needs and committing to them WHOLE heartedly. By doing this, I’ve become so much MORE of a grounded support to others in my life. Sometimes, being absent, while taking care of myself, is part of being there for others in a healthy way.
When death knocks on the door, taking away someone you care about, my experience of this has been eye opening. It’s a tender place that I’ve come to appreciate. It’s been a gateway into my self, that I didn’t quite experience before. The shedding of what DOESN”T matter, the stripping away of the past, being there for myself in my darkest moments and finding inspiration in all the healing that comes.
The pressure to BE, DO and ACT has shown itself powerfully. I share this because I wonder how many of you put this pressure on yourself? How many of you put your NEEDS on the back burner to get other things done? How many take care of everyone else first, then if there's time for you? How well does this serve you?
I am my own boss in business, yet there’s a pressure within, that at times I place on myself. One that takes my joy away and puts me down sometimes.
When I choose to by pass my own needs, it gets stronger.
There's talk on the inside, like a mean spectator whispering comments in the back ground. I choose not to listen, yet some days it doesn’t go away.
As I come back to this place over and over, in my head and out loud, I’m learning ONE thing remains. When I stop taking care of ALL my needs it’s just a matter of time before the whispers, habits and cycles begin to creep in and try to take over.
Then all the goals, projects, ideas and creations that I was once so inspired and excited about are soon, off in the distance, being fogged over by negativity, despair or put downs.
So my trick to vibe-in high and continuing on with what truly matters to me is this.
Get REALLY good at knowing what ALL your needs are.
For me I need:
Physical exercise (1day minimum a week)
Yoga stretches (everyday-I do miss some but daily is optimal)
Cuddles, hugs and kisses (husband and kids)
Water (TONES OF IT)
Treats that are good for me (Eat them happily when I need a reward)
Reading that inspires my attitudes & focus (quotes, recording or books)
Alkaline foods (candida no more, screw you brain fog!!!)
Sleep (2-3 late nights staggered, or else watch out)
Journaling (releasing/expressing what’s on the inside)
Friend time! (place to be myself & give and receive inspiration/fun)
Dance (move move move my body, in ways that feels good)
Sex (it’s the gateway to heaven)
I share this to inspire your desire to search within for your needs.
If you are good at taking care of yourself HIGH FIVE.
If it’s a struggle, you’re not alone. It is a process.
If it’s something you’ve not thought about, give it a try.
If you are not ready, trust where you are.
This world needs you to be WHO YOU ARE.
To be uniquely you, invest in getting to know yourself.
It can start with basic needs, then move towards self loving care, then expanding the self, self expression, then dreams and desires that have always been there.
I trust you will know, which way you want to go.
SO MUCH LOVE
